The Best Dash Cams According to Reddit

There are several versions of the Garmin Dash cam: the 45, 55, 65, 65 plus UHS-I card with adapter and the speak plus with Amazon Alexa.  We have chosen to review the Dash Cam 55 due to the amount of feedback on reddit.  Redditor's have said that the 55 is their favorite.  It is small, includes a memory card and has many different features. 

If you are driving late at night (or in the middle of the day) and start getting tired this dash cam will actually set off a warning letting you know that you are straying too far out of your lane.  It will also let you know if you are driving too closely to the car in front of you. Depending on the size of the memory card you put in the camera will determine the amount of video footage it can take at one time.  It does feature loop recording so if the storage is used up it will record over the oldest video. 

One downside to this particular camera is that the battery lasts up to 120 minutes.

This dash cam looks a bit different than the others on our list.  It comes with a 2 inch screen so you are able to see exactly what the cam is recording. Due to the size it is able to clearly see both sides of the road.  But it is still hidden enough that passerby's may not recognize or notice it.

The storage capacity of this camera fully depends on the size of the SD card you choose to purchase.  If you purchase a 64GB memory card it is able to store up to 7 hours of footage.  Because of the build-in G-sensor if it detects your vehicle has been hit, the camera will protect that footage so it is not deleted.  You can of course manually delete it once you have it saved elsewhere.  Once the SD card is full the loop recording comes into play and it will record over the oldest footage.  Just make sure to save anything onto your computer that you want to keep before this happens. 

It is very easy to instal, use an adhesive pad and attached it directly to your windshield, or anywhere else that you want it. 

If you are looking for a dash cam with excellent video quality than this is by far the one for you.  It has 4K ultra high definition video capabilities.  But with the new technology, the H.265 codec, it allows you the save the same length of footage as other cameras.  Again it just depends on the size of the memory card.
